In Q3 2022, the top 5 Film & Television apps on iOS in Africa demonstrated varied performance trends in downloads, revenue, and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.

Netflix saw a steady revenue trend, peaking at around $31K in the last week of September. Weekly downloads remained robust, hovering between 31K and 36K, while active users experienced a slight drop from 712K to 664K over the quarter.

DStv Stream had dynamic download figures, peaking at nearly 18.4K in early August before settling at around 11.4K by the end of September. Active users fluctuated, reaching a high of approximately 181K in early August and closing the quarter at about 181K.

Disney+ exhibited a consistent revenue growth, with a notable increase to $35K in mid-September. Downloads, however, showed a downward trend from 15.9K at the start of the quarter to 9.7K at the end. Active users saw a slight upward trend, ending the quarter at 71K.

Showmax maintained a stable download rate, peaking at 11.8K in late July and tapering off to 7.9K by the end of September. Active users fluctuated slightly but remained relatively stable around 57K to 61K throughout the quarter.

Amazon Prime Video experienced revenue growth, reaching approximately $27K by the end of September. Downloads showed a significant increase to 10.3K in late August but fell to 6.6K by the end of the quarter. Active users demonstrated a steady rise, peaking at 55K in late August.
